Interlibrary Loan

What is Interlibrary Loan?

The collection at Grace Library is tailored to meet the needs of students at Carlow University, but we understand that sometimes you may need information from books or articles that are not part of our collection. In those cases, Interlibrary Loan is an easy solution to get access to what you need.

Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is a borrowing service provided to Carlow students and employees that allows you to request books, articles, and other materials from participating libraries when those items are not already part of our collection in print or electronically.

ILL requests generally take about 5-10 business days for physical books (depending on where we are able to borrow them from) and 1-5 business days for digital article requests.

Are you certain that Grace Library does not own the item you are looking for? Before you submit an ILL request for a book or article, check the library catalog.

To see what journals the library owns and what years we have access to, search the Journal Finder.
